Since the 1970s, the researchers and experts from all over the world have tended to focus on the learners' role in the learning process. During this process, the interaction between teachers and students has drawn much attention. However, how the students perceive each other and interact with one another is neglected. There are three basic ways that students can interact with one another. They can work competitively to see who is best; they can work individually toward a task without paying attention to the others; they can work cooperatively towards a common interest. Presently, working competitively is dominant. However, with the entry into WTO, China is now facing a challenge to cooperate with the other countries. To work cooperatively with the others is now more important than to work competitively with the others. In this case, cooperative learning has drawn much attention from all over the world.Affective factors play a leading role in language learning. The affective aspects of learning are as important as the cognitive aspects. Both the affective aspects and cognitive aspects are very significant to the language learners. The teachers should take both the aspects into consideration. The coming out of The English Curriculum Criterion of Senior High School has shown us the direction of English teaching. One of the basic concepts of it is to encourage cooperative learning. Meanwhile, the learners' affective factors should be paid attention to.
