In recent years, it is widely accepted that affect is very important in English Teaching. Positive affect is good for English teaching and learning while negative affect has a bad effect.Although many scholars have studied affect and affective factors, little attention is paid to affective teaching of remedial students in Senior Three. In fact, it’s easier for this group of students to experience negative affect, so they are in need of more attention. In this thesis, the author studies and investigates affective situation of remedial students in Senior Three by taking Suining High School as an exampleFirst, the author reviews the definition of affect and important affective factors, such as anxiety, motivation, self-esteem, empathy and so on. Then the author states the related researches at home and abroad. Through these researches and studies, more and more attention has been paid to the influence of affect.The most important part in this thesis is to investigate the affective situation of the remedial students in Senior Three. The author tries to find some emotional problems of these students and then provide some countermeasures. By investigating the affective situation of three classes in Suining High School, the author finds out that affective factors such as anxiety and motivation have a close connection to the results of learning. By interviewing some students, the author gets to know any emotional problems and tries to solve them,Since affective factors play such an important role in English teaching, the author provides some countermeasures to help students to develop positive affective factors and hold back negative ones, thus benefiting the students’English learning.
