"Is moral teachable?" As everyone knows,this is the question that was asked byMenno to Socrates at cist age. Although an ancient issue it is, the special study whichonly discussed from some sections rarely from the whole aspect is occasionally seenin some works of philosophy and education. The possibility of moral teaching is theessential proposition of theory of moral education that must be solved. Althoughmoral teaching has been a crucial form of classroom teaching in many countries for along time, some matters such as imperfect substantial results have come forth justbecause the teachers haven't a distinct and profound understanding of the issue. Thespecial study of the issue will help us to comprehend the basic theory such as theessence and the subjectivity of moral teaching, and enrich and develop the moralteaching and education theory.The thesis is constituted by three parts according to the issue whether moral isteachable or not. The first part debates the theme which was discussed for a long timeIn this part the primary task is to illuminate the treatise in detail successively wrote byphilosophers, E.S and psychologists who may sustain or oppose. After that, there willbe an anatomy of the essence and divarication of the two parts of psychologists. Parttwo focuses on how could moral be taught. First, the thesis defines and expurgates theconcept of "teaching" and "moral". Then probes into the full condition of the concept"teaching" and how people need moral and analysis the essence of the moral. At last,the thesis defends for the view point that moral is teachable from theoretic andpractice aspect. In the third part, the thesis mainly talk about the limitation and theprinciple of moral teaching. Moral teaching is possible is the main viewpoint of thethesis and it also believes that moral teaching has its own limitation and conditions.Different from other types of teaching, moral teaching has its own characters.Cultivate a man with virtue is not only by teaching but also by practice, intercourseand living hood. In which moral as the belief is the difficulty of moral teaching. Then,what kind of moral teaching is the one which not only satisfies the postulate ofmodern times teaching but also tallies with the essential character of moral. In the lastpart, according to the former presentation the thesis brings forward the premises ofeffective moral teaching and the principles that must be abided by.The thesis may be only a superficial experiment on the discussion of moralteaching, but the ultimate goal of the thesis is not only analyzing and defending forthe teachable of moral but also giving some elicitation to theory and practice anddoing some availabilities to the present reform of moral education by means ofprofound consideration of the basic theory and reasonable elucidation of effectivemoral teaching.
