Since the reform and open policy, China has undergone tremendous changesin its social life--competition for talents becoming increasingly intense; speedof social development getting faster; the gap between the poor and the rich becoming increasingly larger; various values coexisting and conflicting; individual ideals distancing from the social reality, etc.. They all bring on serious psychological burden, and pose psychological challenges for college students. Meanwhile, with social development and an increase of education level, everybody will undoubtedly pursue self-development and rich spiritual life when rich material life is realized. However, various pressures, contradictions, pains and perplexities also present themselves as appendants which make glaring of college students' psychological quality and psychological healthy problems. The modern society needs college students with fine psychological quality and healthy psychological condition, but in fact their psychological quality condition does not appear optimistically. College students are thirsty for psychological help. They summons guidance from psychological consultation. Followed by their pursuit of an active-and-healthy life, psychological consultation in higher institutions arises at the historic moment.This thesis deals with comprehensive discussion and thorough research of psychological consultation in China's higher institutions.
