Basketball refereeing is indispensable to our country's basketball sports and competitions. Although the work of players and coaches is the core of basketball sports, the judgement work of referees also can't be ignored, which will greatly affect the progress of the match. The judgment work of referees has impact on players'performance of skills and development of physical morality, which will ensure basketball sports towards the directions of healthy and orderly development. The training of talented basketball referees is significant to our country's athletic sports. The study on basketball referees'developmental characteristics have drawn many athletics workers'attention. This study investigates the developmental process of successful basketball referees from various aspects, including contributory factors, and developmental experience and characteristics. The study of this thesis can provide more insight for the training of talented basketball referees. The theoretical basis of this paper is philosophy, psychology, sociology, talented persons'studies, physical talented persons'studies, and sports training. The study methodology contains use of literature, investigations, logics and mathematic statistics, which is used to examine systematically the developmental characteristics of talented referees. Through the analysis of 56 subjects, the writer identifies each index of contributory factors and also describes the influence of internal and external factors.The following results could be drawn from the results: Most of our Chinese talented referees were young people, however, referees of national level and national A level were much older, and reserve human resources were limited towards the requirements of international Level. The subjects had higher educational background and computer level. Almost all referees were athletics teachers and workers; the subjects were in good heath condition and the main nerve types were sanguineous and bilious.The developmental process of becoming talented referees was long-term and presented S type developmental characteristics.
