With the coming of the 21st century and the rapid development of science and technology, the standard of human material life is greatly improved. It is universal for modern men to possess health, wealth and to enjoy the well being of life. But it is strange enough that neither our physical nor mental health has been enhanced with the enrichment of material gain. We are often under great pressure due to busy work and fierce competition. We are frequently troubled by some negative feelings such as agitation, anxiety, tiredness, depression, loneliness, indifference, inferiority, and dissatisfaction. In the era of information and knowledge economy, which is brought out by the advancement of society, the rapid development of science and technology as well as culture and education, great attention should be paid to teachers" good personalities and their competence to fight against setbacks. Maintaining mental health is the nucleus of a teacher' qualifications, which is also the guarantee to improve his teaching competence. To some extent, a teacher with morbid psychology will do greater harm to his or her students than a one with poor teaching skills. Moreover, teachers with better personalites can only cultivate students with good mentality.Based on the sample survey conducted on 414 teachers from 14 high schools in Diqing Prefecture, this essay analyses the main factors that influence teachers' mentality and summarizes the categories of morbid mentality including their characteristics.
