Teachers who engage in teaching for years have realized that implementation of a theory and fulfillment of an aim of teaching is closely related to teaching activity itself. Every teacher may adopt different approaches by their understanding of contents of courses when conducting a lesson. According to the features of junior middle school physics course and the general requirement of the new standards, "problem teaching" is undoubtedly an effective teaching method. Teaching materials are presented in forms of questions; students learn things by solving problems. Teacher and students interact. It seems meet the requirements of 《BASIC EDUCATION COURSE REFORMATION BRIEF (try out)》 concerning "way of presenting materials, way of students' learning, teachers' teaching methods and way of interaction".Though the theory of problem teaching has been well developed, teachers have problems and misunderstanding in putting it into practice. How to materialize the theory in practical teaching, esp. today; how to apply the theory under new standards in order to realize self managing, co-operation and researching is our new challenge. This article is made up of six parts. The first part point out the problems in carrying out the new standards. The second part introduces related background information of "problem teaching". The third part makes analysis of the new standards and explains the significance of "problem teaching " step by step in reality. The forth part deals with common problems of "problem teaching" in physics classes. The fifth parts talks about how to do "problem teaching" under new standards. The last part presents some model teaching plans and evaluation.
