Basing on Constructivism Theory, Multiplex Intelligence Theory and STS education idea, this article gave guidance to the practice work of Chemistry new curriculum in Compulsory education in Huhhot, Inner Mongolia on September, 2004.This practice adopts experiment teaching materials published by Science and Technology Press, and Guangdong Education Press; takes the junior middle school students of Grade Three in our school as experiment subjects; and bases on the thing that all practicing teachers has joined in the new curriculum standard training. We draw up a detailed practice scheme, and have carried on the practice for one year. The result indicates that the proportion of new knowledge, produced by interact between teachers and students in the new course, increases greatly.The new curriculum requests the teacher to set up a whole new idea of teaching, change their roles as in traditional class, improve their isolated and blocked ways, go out of the sealed classroom, learn to cooperate with others, communicate with teachers of different subjects. It also requests class teaching to shift its value standard from knowledge focused to development focused. The teaching aim should fully present the integrity of knowledge, capability, and attitude, so that teaching could suit the education for all-around development requirement. The reform of new curriculum emphasized specially the unification of conclusion and the process, and the unification of cognition and the emotion. It needs the teachers to set up a brand-new teaching behavior and way.Meanwhile, the new curriculum urges the unprecedented change of students'study way, advocates students to consider the science research as the main way of study, learn Chemistry knowledge during their own experienceprocess. The new curriculum also relates to a new evaluation system of the responding multiplicate curriculums. In brief, the new curriculum let the students be more interesting in Chemistry study. The opening teaching model releases students'mind, offers the chance to develop their imagination, and the science inquiry contributes quite a lot to Chemistry study.Moreover, science inquiry, the biggest attracting point of Chemistry new curriculum in compulsory education reform, was explained here. It tells us that science inquiry is one kind of significant and effective study and teaching way, and one kind of course form and idea as well.By using it in the compulsory education Chemistry teaching, setting up the theme specially in the content standard, proposing explicitly the content and training goal of it, science inquiry could help students to be relaxing and joyful when they contact Chemistry, which is so colorful and closely linked with human beings; to be active when they inquire into the mystery of chemical change; and also to be interested and self-confident when they continue their Chemistry study. One thing here needs to point out is that we can not just do the training of inquiry method isolatedly, what we should do is to pay much attention on students'performance during their inquiry activities.When summarizing and re-studying the process of chemistry new curriculum practice in compulsory education, some problems encountered during this practice is listed too. Such as the science inquiry costs so much time, the experimental condition is not quite available, the class capacity is beyond ordinary level, the transformation of teachers'and students'thought needs more time, the order of science inquiry is not totally satisfied, and so on. It is obvious that we ought to improve and enhance so that all these problems could be settled down. Therefore, several suggestions and ideas are given for future practice work on this paper.
