Combined methods of documents research, investigation andmathematical statistics have been introduced to study the developmentof gymnastic education in general universities of Fujian province. Thegymnastic education saw its most quickly development during 1998-2002.As to that, the gymnastic education began to take an important part ingeneral universities of Fujian province from then on. However, thereare still many impediments restricting its further developments. Ourdata show that current gymnastic educational courses usually do nothave clear aims. Those gymnastic courses which lack of variations areboring and will no longer meet young students' needs. And thecompetitions held by different universities even by themselves are notenough, which to some extent is attributed to small number ofgymnasiums and their poor conditions. To improve this situation, muchwork should be done in the future. Additional fund should be put toenhance the conditions of gymnasiums, and the communication amonguniversities should be strengthened. And what is most important is tochange their teaching way as soon as possible to attract more studentsto take part in the gymnastic course. A proper gymnastic club willalways be a good choice to inspire young students' interest ingymnastic activation.
