Classical Chinese Collection was a civilization textbook compiled by Wu Chucai and Wu Diaohou during the early Qing Dynasty. Although these two authors were Unknown during that period, the Classical Chinese Collection compiled by them was indeed famous. Researches into the background, version investigation, and the purpose, criterion, layout and features of the compilation were very fruitful. On the achievements of the predecessors, this paper mainly tries to tap the potential teaching concept in this book and to explore its enlightened value on Modern Language Teaching and LearningIn the first chapter, the author mainly reviews the types and features of the selected works during the Qing dynasty and before and introduces the historical background, cultural background, compiling background, and compiling purpose of the Classical Chinese Collection, which is the basis of the following research. In the second, the third, and the forth chapter, the author mainly investigates the teaching concept from the selection, the layout and the comment way of the Classical Chinese Collection. In the fifth chapter, the author mainly analyses its enlightened value on Modern Language Teaching and LearningThe main part of the article is from chapter2 to chapter5. First of all, through analyzing the influence of the two authors'living age, prose outlook, and other selected works on Classical Chinese Collection, this part summarizes the guiding ideology of the book and realizes that the two authors paid great attention to basic teaching, knowledge accumulation and ethics training. What's more, it provides some reliable information for the compilation of modern Chinese textbooks. The comment on Classical Chinese Collection reflects the importance of cultivating students'reading and writing ability.The problem at issue in modern Chinese teaching recently is the proportion of Classical Chinese in textbook. Many people argue that they are too obscure for the students to understand. However, both poems and prose works are the cream of Chinese. They play a very important and potential role in modern writing. Moreover, the virtue presented in Classical Chinese also plays an important role in students'ethics nurture. Thus, we should attach enough importance to Classical Chinese. In modern Chinese teaching, the teaching process usually thought to be so rigid that the students lack innovative abilities. However, innovative reading is what was encouraged in Classical Chinese Collection. In modern Chinese teaching, we should carry on the traditions on the one hand and advocate innovation on the other hand. The students'associative ability, imaginative ability and innovative ability should be cultivated. Modern Chinese teaching should break the original classroom teaching, bring Chinese learning into students'daily life and let the students feel the traditional Chinese culture by themselves. It is a more effective approach.Classical Chinese Collection is an excellent book that owns a high value. It sheds light on modern Chinese teaching. As China's traditional culture successors and researchers, we should learn its essence, so that it will continue to play a role in the teaching of modern Chinese.
