A Research On Present Situation Of Sports & Art Curriculum Teaching In The Universities Of Hubei Province

Under the urgent need of reform for quality-oriented education, the P.E. teaching methodology and the students' great interest in learning sports & art curriculum, the research on the sports & art curriculum is imperative. The research will have a practical significance to the school sports reform and the sports & art curriculum teaching in the university of Hubei Province. This thesis, with 100teachers and 1,000 students in 20 universities of Hubei Province as the research subjects, adopts the method of documentation, questionnaire, interview and mathematic statistics to survey present situation of the sports & art curriculum teaching in university of Hubei Province. This study first defines the sports & art curriculum, reclassifies its project, elaborates the sports & art curriculum's special functions Next the thesis analyzes and studies the present situation of the classroom instructions, teaching force specialized in the sports & art curriculum, the cultural atmosphere of the sports & art and the location & facility. Base on the above research such conclusions are drawn: First the main sports & art curriculum items which are being practiced in universities of Hubei Province are calisthenics, dance sports, physique dance, martial arts repertoire, the sports & art item lacks multiplicity. Second the course content is uninteresting and outmoded. So more performances should be arranged, which need students to cooperate and coordinate together. At the same time both teachers and students should be encouraged to comply and arrange the movement. Third the teaching effect on students' physique, pliancy and coordination is very good, but the students' self-confidence, creativity, elegance have not been paid enough attention to. Fourth there is a lack of well qualified teachers. For example, at present we lack some teachers who specialized in the items which are not very popular like kicking shuttlecock, patterning skidding of the wheels, dragon dance lion, national characteristic dance and so on. Reached 68% teachers are engaging in the project teaching which is different from their before specialty. Fifth there are no rich sports & art cultural atmosphere. Sixth the location & facility are imperfect, so that there is a great need of diverse equipments and teaching materials, The university should break through the tradition in the equipment purchase, massively introducing some new sports equipments.To develop the sports & art curriculum well, to comply with the need for all-around talents and teaching reform ,to satisfy the student's needs, the school must enrich and perfect the location & facility, improve teaching force and better the teachers' professional skills, cultivate rich sports & art cultural atmosphere through multi-ways, construct the scientific and reasonable sports & art curriculum system. All these are essential.
