Shot put by Slide Step Backward is a very important part of shot-put Teaching, being a complicated action full of skills, it needs high sports quality, but the teaching content itself is somehow dull and dry. The tradition pedagogy has lots of disadvantages and may affect students'improvement on skill."Mastery learning theory"which was put forward by Bloom, a teaching method, carries out a kind of teaching activity. It stresses on teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and abilities. It is an important measure to complete enhances the teaching quality, and let teaching meets all the students. My article aims to study the feasibility and usefulness of"Mastery learning theory"in shot-put Teaching. I manage to search the best way of teaching shot-put through the Shot put by Slide Step Backward experiment which compares the"Mastery learning theory"and tradition pedagogy. In order to solve the problems exists in shot-put Teaching in most of schools'unit course pattern, and how to provides advises in the condition of give consideration to students'physical strength and sports skill under the teaching form of class.Author studied and finished this article by consulting documents, making investigation, interviewing experts, doing experiments, using mathematical statistics, and compared the"Mastery learning theory"with tradition pedagogy , through the comparative, I obtained a great many of data , I analyzed these data ,and get the conclusions as follows:1Students under the"Mastery learning theory"have many differences with students under tradition pedagogy, not only in mastering skills, but also in understanding theories. So, it is obvious that"Mastery learning theory"is feasible and effective in Shot put by Slide Step Backward teaching.2Putting"Mastery learning theory"to use in shot-put teaching reflects teaching's systematicness and period principle". This is beneficial for students to master the basic skill, theory and technical ability of Shot put by Slide Step. This is also advantageous for students to learn following in order and advance step by step.3The making of teaching aims works as a guide for teachers to choose the proper teaching methods and procedure. It can also guide students how to behave in classes. Teaching aims'arrangements of ideas also arouses students'latent energy as well as raises the students'initiative. It improves most of the students'learning capacity especially those who are not good at it.4 There are also disadvantages of using"Mastery learning theory"in teaching. Such as when it comes to correct the students who are slow to master the movements, putting the gesture right again and again wastes too much time. How to ensure those students who learn fast to make progress and so on, these problems needs further study and inquiry.
