With the topic of "on the spirit of classroom", the thesis firstly explored the basicimplications of human spirit from four perspectives, i.e. the perspective of dailyexpression, and the philosophical, psychological and cultural perspectives. It was arguedin the thesis that human beings are characteristically the spiritual being and this featurehas its significance on education and classroom. When the pursuit of eternal value isincorporated into education, I believe, the education will be empowered to create a kindof fine life and enable to make the classroom become a holy place for the pursuit of thetruth, the goodness and the beauty. Base on this understanding, this thesis analyzed thecontent and the core embodiments of classroom spirit. The spirit of classroom isconceived as the educational activity full of values. As the shared soul of all fineclassrooms, classroom spirit integrates the practical character of classroom education withthe eternal pursuit of spirit, and combines the ideal of education with its reality..Itsconnotation des the following aspects: the pedagogical comprehensions of the reality, theideals of the glorious classroom and the actions towards the ideals. These three elementsare mutually supportive and united in classroom practice. Furthermore, the cores of theclassroom spirit are the love of life which represents the spirit of humanity in theclassroom; the pursuit of truth which represents the spirit of science in the classroom; thelove of education which represents the spirit of profession. Finally, I argued thatclassroom spirit should be cultivated by virtue of being receptiveness, equal-mindedand transcendence. Receptiveness is the foundation of education and the start point ofclassroom spirit with sensitivity, respect, openness and toleration; being equal-minded isthe essence of teaching process with its focus on equality, reflection and sharing;transcendence is the experience of freedom which is attainable only through criticism andoriginality by both of teachers and students.
