This assay is trying to research and explore the influences of family economic conditions on the students. Research focus is on their individual characteristics, ways of dealing with the pressures, their economic conditions.This research adopted Qualitative Research Method. Firstly, it takes purpose sampling as its way, after the initial interview, two female students were chosen as objects, one is from a poor family and the other one is from an affluent family. Secondly, according to the feedback of research purpose and subject, I choose the following family factors to continue my research: family economic conditions, family educational ways. Then, by way of interview, observation and literature research and other methods to gather information and analyzed them and formed a theory out of the inductive method.I found a phenomenon which is different from previous researches:" the poor are not necessarily confused, the rich are not necessarily strong-minded", "the poor students' standards of self-esteem are not necessarily low, well-off students' self-esteem are not necessarily high", "family environment for poor families is not necessarily cold, family environment for affluent families is not necessarily warm".Analysis: (1) Differences of family educational methods are the main factors attributed to college students' abilities of coping with pressures. (2) Way of family rearing, directly or indirectly, through self-esteem, led to influence the students' abilities of coping with pressures. Firstly, the better family communication reduces their pressures; Secondly, parents' ways of rearing kids, through self-esteem, affects their capacities of coping with interpersonal relationships; Thirdly, rearing method, through self-esteem and their concept of attribution, affects their capacities of dealing with their studies. Rearing method, through self-esteem, influence their emotion; through self-esteem, influence their motivation of success; through concept of attribution, influence their way of solving problems.Results: Level of living standard determines economic pressures, family rearing pattern directly or through self-esteem and other elements indirectly affect our abilities to cope with problems.This research confirmed with some previous researches. Based on previous phenomena which generated different findings, we came to the conclusion that the research is helpful for us to adjust of thinking of helping students, no matter they are poor or rich. Economic pressure is only one of the pressures that many students are facing, as long as we pay attention to the improvement of the family rearing pattern, help students to possess high standard of self-esteem, a strong sense of happiness, a reasonable object and a better way of associating with people, they will be able to calmly deal with the pressures, including economic pressure and others as well.
