With the development of economy and information technology, intercultural association increase frequently. All kinds of culture meet each other. For China, if it attains its increasing development, some people who have intercultural awareness and intercultural communication competence need to be trained.One of characteristics of culture is learned. That is to say, culture is acquired by learning. Hence people can become the one who is multicultural and have intercultural awareness by training. while senior English education satisfy the development learners'mind and affection ,learners'looking for jobs and living demand in future as well as economical and technological development in our country. Therefore, cultivation of learners'intercultural awareness is one of goals in senior English education, and cultivation of intercultural awareness has also been set in national English Curriculum Criteria.Then, how is learners'cultural awareness? This thesis surveys the current state of senior learners'intercultural awareness in order to learn about it, the result is not satisfying. Senior learners'intercultural awareness still does not satisfy the current demand. The reasons, author thinks, are that: 1) the importance of cultivating learners'ICA is not recognized by teachers, thought guides behavior. If there is not advanced thought, there is out of date behavior. 2) Teachers and students do not know why learning Chinese culture facilitates understanding for the target culture, resulting in inputting few Chinese cultures in English teaching classroom. Therefore, this thesis demonstrates the importance of cultivating intercultural awareness from three dimensions and importance of improve Chinese culture. In addition, this thesis puts forward some principles which we should follow in cultivating ICA. Finally, from teachers'and students'dimension is some specific method put forward to cultivating learners'ICA and guild practice.
