A Study On Sexuality Education Of Malaysia Chinese Independent Schools

This research intends to present the current practice of sexuality education in Malaysian Chinese Independent High School. It also tries to find out the effective ways for improving the sexuality education in the high schools. A self-designed questionnaire of sexuality education has been applied in this research. There are 1443 students and 300 teachers from four areas involved in the research. The questionnaire is divided into three sections, the level of sexuality concept, the attitude and opinion of school sexuality education.The results indicate that:(1) In generally, the teachers of Independent High Schools show concern about sexuality education. But, the administrators of the schools do not pay enough attention to the sexuality education.(2) Different area and gender may show the significant differences between the attitudes of sexuality education, sexual attitude of students;(3) Different gender and teaching experience may show the significant differences between the attitudes of sexuality education, sexual attitude of teachers;(4) The students from senior middle class lack adolescent sexual knowledge. More guidance is needed.Some suggestions are drawn as the following:(1) In-service training should be provided to the teachers about sexuality education.(2) Peers education is one of the effective ways to implement school sexuality education;(3) The implementing of school sexuality education should be systematical and sustainable;(4) Establish a "Tri-net" connection including school, family and society to carry out school sexuality education;(5) Establish a mechanism to evaluate the effectiveness of sexuality education;(6) Local schools sexuality education can be improved by referring to foreign country experiences...
