Learning Disabilities can be traced back to the 1940s and have gone through a couple of different research phases including those for the brain damage, the brain function barrier, the psychology and the social development. In recent years, the disabilities study has become a hot topic regarding education, psychology, medicine research.In light of my personal teaching practice, learning disabilities turn out to be a widespread problem in high school physics teaching. In my teaching course, many students complained that the physical lessons are difficult to understand and the physical exercises difficult to do. As a result, the students show their small interest in physics learning and keep a relatively low progress in the subject. So far, much has been done concerning learning disabilities studies in China, but few of them dealt with the issues on physics learning disabilities in rural high school. In order to reform the physical teaching so that the students there improve physical study effectively, I investigated the factors which lead to their disabilities when they are involved in physics Learning. The investigation demonstrates that the widespread lack of interest and self-confidence, low level of cognitive strategy and the relevant social factors—all these contributed to what their tough situations are. In view of the findings, this paper proposes a set of teaching strategies and programmes intended to help improve the students' progress in physics learning, which may be taken as a reference for all the physics teachers working in the rural areas in China.This paper is divided into six chapters. Chapter One introduces the intention and significance of this paper. Chapter Two briefs the research background of learning disabilities. In Chapter Three, a discussion is given to the causes leading to learning disabilities. Chapter four investigates the causes of physical learning disabilities. Chapter five summarises what was found and proposes the countermeasures for physical learning disabilities. Chapter six is a conclusion for the whole paper.
