Eugenics In China

After developed for nearly a century, eugenics, as one of the subjects introduced from the west was found to be an awkward condition: one hand, its obverse existing and demotic identify can't be disaffirmed; on the other hand, many scholar reproach eugenics and even with disputed to its notion which can employ justice. My goal is eliminating the awkward of eugenics.The text presents historical reason and philosophic justification for the existing of eugenics on the foundation of entirely review depending on the developing course of Chinese eugenics. It is formed by five parts contents altogether.The first part serves as an introduction which presents a discussion of eugenics on the historical background and predecessors' study about the issue.Part Two is a demonstration about the development of eugenics in China. First, it is a looking for the Origin of eugenics and points out that eugenics as a discipline is from the West to our country. Tells about theoretical basis and methodology of the research adopted in this paper, that is Lakatos' Methodology of Scientific Research Programs. Then according to the relation between "internal history" and "external history" of Lakatos' Methodology of Scientific Research Programs and the different character in each stage, the history of Chinese eugenics can be divided into four main stages, which were afferent stage, critical stage, reconstructing stage and reflecting stage. At last, we bring forward and settle a question from historical angle: why the reflection of eugenics arises in the west and not in china at first?The third part is pointed out the reason for the existence of eugenics and its justifications in Chinese Context. For nailing down what is eugenics, the article first analyzed the notion of eugenics and discussed in Chinese context. Secondly, it discussed the necessity and adequacy reasons of retrieval for eugenics. Finally, it argued eugenics from Traditional Culture, Life Ethics and technical feasibility in Chinese context.Part four pointed out that one's health is the standard of judgment through a "ideological experiment". The health is the only reasonable standard for actualizing eugenics.Finally, the conclusion of this paper believes that Eugenics is a science which is a human access to the health future generations. It will give the same respect to every exiting life.In a word, the paper is mainly hackling on the developing course of eugenics and gives the justification on its historical facts and reasons. Furthermore, the paper argues that it is necessary to retrieval eugenics from embarrassed condition and let it in a condition of justice; so as to it can better serve the human being.
