Career Counselor Education In America And Its Enlightment

The USA is the origin place where modern career counseling happened. It cound be said that the career counselor's education in America had nearly hundred years history. The successful service which provided by the career counselor can enhance the worker to get strength of the employment power, reduce the cost and the time of hunting job, transform the latent labor force to the realistic productive force, and it is advantageous to the development of human resources. In the modern society, the swift development of economy and the unceasingly massing of higher education causes the employment question to be prominent day by day, the society needs massive outstanding career counselors to provide more career counseling service. Therefore, the value of career counselor education gets more and more attention of education circles. This paper took the implementation of American career counselor education as the research object. Through the research of the educational institution, the curriculum and the certification system of career counselor's education in America, summarized the experiences of American career counselor education, and proposed the suggestion that is beneficial for career counselor's education in China.The paper cound be divided into three chapters including the history and present time of American career counselor education, and the enlightenment of it for our country.The contents are as follows:Chapter one elaborated career counselor education's history on the historical perspective that since the beginning of the 20th century from the vocation guidance training to the career counselor education. American vocational guidance is the predecessor of career counselor, through nearly one century, the changing in the name has manifested changing in the idea, also had the huge change to its education.Chapter two systematically introduced the implementation organization, the curriculum and the certification system of career counselor education by the order of preprofession,entering profession and post profession, and analyzed the charicteristc of the curriculum and the certification system.Chapter three elaborated the history and present of career counselor education in China, as well as its existing problem, and proposed the advanced the positive suggestion to our country's career counselor education according to American experiences.
