The Tentative Research On The Relation Between College Students' Athletic Values And College Athletic Environment

In modern society, it's inevitable for an all-around talent to know, comprehend and participate in sports. College students'athletic value is projected in their sports awareness, sports habits, sports participation and sports knowledge. Sports value is formed in participation and practice and influenced by social and cultural environment, including influences from school, family, community and mass media, among which college plays a critical role as a main surrounding for students to live and study.In order to explore the relation between college students'sports value and sports environment, the author has designed questionnaire about it the documentary materials and logical deduction. By random sampling, 1100 pieces questionnaires have been sent to 10 universities in Jiangsu Province, among which 938 are valid and validity rate is 85.3%. The findings are as follows:1) Students speak highly of the general college sports environment, and hardware is much better than software.2) Students have scored all factors of sports environment from highest to lowest: athletic teaching, athletic system, apparatus, extracurricular sports and sports information, among which sports information scores lowest.3) Male students evaluate sports environment higher than female students, indicating male students are apt to accept the surrounding easier than females since females are more critical than males. The different evaluations from Arts department and Science department seldom exist. The sores from juniors take the highest while the scores from the sophomore and seniors are almost the same.4) Students'athletic value is positive and personal preference is higher than social value. Therefore, it's safe to conclude that the majority of students focus more on individual value. As to the recognition of specific factors, it's arranged in descending order: body-building value, entertainment value, education value, interpersonal relation value, and social value.5) Male students pay more attention to interpersonal and social value than females and there exists conspicuous difference. Females'acknowledgment to sports overall value is much lower than males.6) The respective factor of college sports environment plays different role in the formation and development of college students'sports value. College students'athletic value is influenced much more by sports teaching and sports system than by athletic fields. Students'interpersonal value is influenced by sports field and extracurricular sports more than apparatus and sports teaching and system, and sports information is the least one. Students'entertainment value is more influenced by sports field than apparatus and extracurricular sports and sports system and sports information is the least one. Students'social value is mostly influenced by sports teaching, extracurricular sports and sports information.
