ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to explore the characteristics of college students' digital ratios,and the difference of digit ratios and BMI between sports group and non-sports group,and the relationship between digit ratio and athletic ability,so as to provide the basis for the selection of athletes.And providing simple guidance to improve university students' physical quality.MethodsUniversity students of two colleges in Jinzhou City were selected randomly as the research objects,and then they were divided into sports group and nonsports group.The event group theory comply with dominant factors of competitive ability,the project divides all motion into the physical power kind and the technical ability kind.Their height,weight,scores of sports and finger length of both hands were measured,and factors that were associated with athletic performance were investigated.The difference of digit ratio between sports group and non-sports group,and the relationship between digit ratio and athletic ability were explored by t test,ANOVA and correlation analysis.Results1.There is sexual dimorphism in digit ratios and BMI.The values of 2D: 5D,3D: 5D and 4D: 5D of females' left hands are greater than males'(P<0.05).The values of 2D: 4D,2D: 5D,3D: 4D,3D: 5D and 4D: 5D of females' right hands are greater than males'(P<0.05).2.There were significant differences between left hands and right hands in the values of 2D: 4D in males and females(P<0.05).The values of 2D:3D and 2D: 4D are less than one in both hands of all people,but the values of 2D: 5D,3D: 4D,3D: 5D and 4D: 5D are greater than one.The values of digit ratios in descending are 3D: 5D,4D: 5D,2D: 5D,3D: 4D,2D:4D and 2D: 3D.3.There were significant differences between sports group and non-sports group in the values of 2D: 5D in the left hands and 2D: 3D,2D: 4D,3D: 4D,4D: 5D in right hands of males(P <0.05).There were significant differences in the values of 2D: 3D,2D: 4D,2D: 5D in right hands of females(P <0.05).There were significant differences in BMI of males(P <0.05),but not in females(P >0.05).4.There were significant differences between the physical power kind,the technical ability kind and non-sports group in the values of 2D: 4D and 3D: 4D in right hands of males and females(P<0.05).There were significant differences in BMI of males and females(P >0.05).5.There was negative correlation between scores of sports and 2D: 4D in the right hand of both males and females in the sports group(males: r =-0.316,P=0.003;females: r =-0.498,P =0.004).6.After using multiple linear regression analysis to rule out other factors,right hand 2D: 4D and test scores are negative related in all sports group and non-sports group.Conclusions1.The digit ratios have significant sex difference and side difference.The values of digit ratios in descending are 3D: 5D,4D: 5D,2D: 5D,3D: 4D,2D: 4D and 2D: 3D.2.There are significant differences between different groups in the values of 2D: 4D.There is negative correlation between 2D: 4D and scores of sports in sports group,but not in non-sports group.3.After using multiple linear regression analysis to rule out other factors,right hand 2D: 4D and test scores are negative related in all sports group and non-sports group,so there is negative correlation between 2D: 4D and athletic ability.
