At present, China's educational reform keeps on putting forward. Quality education and new curriculum reform have put forward new requirements. Thinking and theories about education blossomed like hundreds of flowers. The educational theories raised by the theoretical circles at home and abroad had provided us with lots of inspiration and models. The exploration of an educational pattern that is more suitable to human's development and study has become a mutual concern for educational workers both at home and abroad. The cognitive theory of Constructivism which is popular in western countries has become an important school among educational theories. When this theory has first introduced in China, some regard it as"theological foundation that innovate the traditional teaching", whereas some regard it as"fads"-- a kind of false constructivism. Since it is known to all that"Practice is the sole criterion of truth".It is obvious that the status quo of Chinese education and teaching practice is the touchstone of Constructivism.This essay ties to explore whether it is appropriate to apply Constructivism in high school history teaching and how to apply it by unifying the theory of Constructivism with the problems that the author came across in teaching practice. Through the analysis, the author attempts to explore an effective approach to promote the high school history teaching.This essay consists of five pats:The first part is theological foundation. This part is on theories. The second part is the analysis of the process of history teaching in high school. The third part is explores the application of Constructivism in history teaching in high school. This part tells about the prerequisite and the way in which the theory is used. The fourth part presents some high school history teaching examples instructed by Constructivism. The last part is the reflection of the application of Constructivism in history teaching in high school.
