| Benchmarking was regarded as one of the three major management methods together with strategic alliance and process reengineering in 1990s. Benchmarking can improve management level and general strength of organization rapidly. It is very popular in enterprise and the implementation study is been exploring further.As people's understanding of benchmarking has gradually been deepening, the practice of it has been spread. It has been expanded from corporate management to the fields of public management and education management. The best practice in one or some aspects of higher education, other education or non-educational organizations as benchmarks, higher education compares with itself, analyzes the successful process of benchmarks in deep, finds out the gap between it and benchmarks to improve it strength and surpasses itself and benchmarks.This article analyzes Soochow University as a case study combining benchmarking theory by comparing and contrasting benchmarking elements with data to describe how to use benchmarking to improve the strength of higher education, helping leaders of universities and colleges to make decision. |
