Number sequence is a key content in school mathematics curriculm. It relates many topics inschool mathematics, which includes number, expression, equation and functions. And it is also a foundation of some mathematics topics students would meet in the future. So, the instructive design of number sequence will help teachers to learn instructive design and put the learning theory into practice.There are mainly two parts in this paper. The first is to analyze the meaning, basic theories, basic natures and modes of instructive design through literature review. In this part, the author also briefly introduce the related researches on teaching and learning of number sequence, such as the new curriculum, the big ideas of number sequence, etc. The second part of this dissertation is case study, which include three teaching cases. The first case is the first lesson in the unit, which focus concept understanding. The case questions include: (1) How does the prior knowledgy affect students'learning of number sequence? (2) How to use the conceptual variations (which include sample, standards variations and non-standards variations, positive variations and negative variations) in the teaching of number sequence? (3) How to divide the cognintve levels of the understanding of number sequence conceptsThe tital of the second case is"Sum of number sequence", which mainly focus on the acquisition of skills of number sequence. The research questions include: (1) What mathematical skills are related to the learning of number sequence? (2) How to help students to acquire these skills? (3) Does practice really make perfect? (4) How to learning higher order matematics skills bejond basic skillsThe third case aims at the development of students'mathematics exploration through a well know game called"Tower of Hanoi". This case will focus the following five questions: (1) Why the new standards encourage students to do mathematics? (2) What are the caricteristics of mathematics explorative activities? (3) How to assess a lesson on the level of exploration? (4) How to use IT in mathematics teaching and learing? (5) What kind of teaching strategies should the teachers develop in order to help students to do mathematicsBased on the above analysis and case studies, the author finally give some suggestions about the teaching and learning of number sequence as well as teaching professional development.
