At the stage when online learning is developing rapidly, Virtual Learning Communities has become an important trend in the distance education. Text-based communication is still the most important modes in Virtual Learning Community(VLC). How can we design the interactive strategy according to the features of text-based communication, so as to promote the communication and the cultivation of critical thinking and promote the establishment of Virtual Learning Communities of Inquiry?This paper analyzes the characteristics of text-based communication and Virtual Learning Communities of Inquiry and the relationship between them. Based on this, the author analyzes the online courses which the author has participated. Through the analysis of the text-based communication in the curriculum, this paper summarizes a series of text-interactive strategy, and integrates these strategies into a model of text interactive strategy for guiding the text-based communication in Virtual Learning Communities of Inquiry. The model of text-interactive strategy is divided into two levels: macro and micro levels. The macro-level strategies include Sociability Strategy, Cognitive Strategies and Teaching Strategies. The macro-level pays attention to different strategies in different communities or different stages of the same community. So this model can meet different needs. Meanwhile, the micro-level strategies refines the macro-strategy, making them become more flexible and resilient, and more operable in practice.After the model was designed, the author trained teachers who participated in the second session of teachers online training course in Suzhou how to use the text interactive strategy in Suzhou Virtual Learning Communities of Inquiry. The author then used the content analysis to compare with the text, and thus judged the efficiency of the model.Finally, this paper gets the conclusion by comparison of data analysis: the model of text interactive strategy is conducive to raise the quality of text, and to promote the establishment of Virtual Learning Communities of Inquiry.
