An Study On The Development Relation Of Regional Economy And Local Colleges

Local colleges are an inevitable product when China's higher education developing at a certain stage. Its emergence and development is never contingent. In western developed countries, from the industrialized society to post industrialized knowledge-based society, regional economy as the platform that local colleges rely on becomes increasingly stronger, and more and more important. Therefore, to establish a good interactive relation between local colleges and regional economy is the only way to promote mutual development.This paper defines relevant concepts, and then explores the theoretical foundation from the perspective of dependence theory, symbiotic theory and interest theory. On the basis of historical and international experience of the common development between local colleges and regional economy, it takes the case of Zhejiang Ocean University, attached the importance to interactive development between Zhejiang Ocean University and Zhoushan city economy, and finally puts forward problems existing in interactive development that should be paid attention to.This paper is divided into five parts.Firstly, it mentions relevant researches on the development of regional economy and local colleges, then gives the definition of the concepts——region, regional economy, and local colleges.Secondly, it briefly analyzes mutual influence on each other. From the perspective of dependence theory, symbiotic theory and interest theory, in the era of the knowledge-based economy, as a development strategy, development interactions between local colleges and regional economy, rests on a rational theore tical basis.Thirdly, it explores historical and international experience of the interactive development between local colleges and regional economy. And it mentioned the history of our local colleges serving regional economic development from the period of the Republic of China, after-liberation, reform and opening up, to the present era. Then taking the United States, Britain, South Korea, Japan as examples, it studies the foreign colleges and regional economic interaction development, concluding that local colleges should focus on the central task of serving regional economy, only thus can get their own development.Fourthly, it studies the interactive development between Zhejiang Ocean University and Zhoushan city economy. On the basis of respective characteristics, an empirical study has been done that the economic development of Zhoushan city provides larger developing space for Zhejiang Ocean University , which meanwhile played an increasingly important role in economic development.Finally, it puts forward the problems we should pay full attention to, i.e. in the service of the regional economy, local colleges should not only focus on individual development, but also meet the needs of the local economy to form its own feature...
