Research On The Interactive Development Of Higher Education And Regional Economy

Along with deepening macro-administration system reform of universities in China, the education administration system has changed to the model of giving priority to center and local governments; the regional economy plays a more important role in higher education development, the interaction between higher education and regional economy has got more and more attention from both of various level governments and academia.This paper, on the basis of human capital theory, economic growth theory, regional economic theory and backward development theory, analyses the relationships and coordination between higher education and regional economy. First, this paper builds an econometric model by using the co-integration analysis theory in econometrics, and analyses the influence of higher education on the politics, culture and especially economy of regions; it also studies the high relativity between higher education and regional economic development. Second, it analyses the influence of regional economic development on higher education in terms of investment, scale, structure, development speed, systems and mechanism, disciplines and courses setting, etc. Third, this paper discusses the optimum scale of higher education, and puts forward to suggestions for the coordination between higher education and regional economy. Last, after the prescription of the current situation of higher education and economic development of Shaanxi Province, this paper analyses the influence of higher education on the economic development of this Province.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows including the innovations: (1)Classification of the national economic region into five types of economic development regions using clustering analysis method; (2)Simplification of the complicated relationship between higher education and regional economy: the correlation between the recruitment scale of higher education and GDP is the closest; the students scale also has close correlation with pure income of farmers, the income of town resident except the financial income, which shows that main financial support of...
