The development of science and technology comes from experiment. Experiment is one important practical activity, through which human understand the world. University laboratory is usually subordinate to university or relies on university administration. It is important base of laboratory teaching, science research, production experiment and technology development. It is also an essential component of university software construction. Laboratory construction, which is the cradle for innovative talents cultivation, plays an important role in promoting quality education, cultivating the students' creative spirit and practice ability. It is an important mark of university-running level.This thesis first discusses the relationship between university students' creative ability and laboratory construction, analyses the structure of creative ability, which consists of four parts: the innovation consciousness, innovative thinking ability, innovative practice ability, the reflection and the appraisal ability, and then analyses the relationship between the structure of creative ability and constructivism theory, nonlinear self-organization theory and the theory of Multiple Intelligence. It also briefly describes the phenomenon of lack of university students' innovative ability.By using a self-designed questionnaire with reliability, validity and maneuverability, surveys were adopted from students of different majors from 3 representative universities Based on the survey, the thesis positively puts forward countermeasures for cultivating university students' innovative ability as the final aim, such as transforming teaching conception of experiment, optimizing experiment teaching system, strengthening laboratory openness, strengthening construction of the experimental teaching demonstration center and organizing subject contest ,etc.
