The role transition is of great significance for college freshman's growth. The research analyses the external environments, the main aspects of the role transition and the obstacles during the process, and ascertains the major factors affecting the transition. Based of these sections, the research also makes some practical propositions, aiming to accelerate the process. The research indicates the change of the external environment requires the role transition for college freshman. The transition includes adopting a new learning pattern, forming stable personal communications and developing self-appraisal and etc. All these aspects are required to accord with the environment's demands. But the way to realization of the role transition is not even, due to some factors, including internal and external elements. The external elements cover the low efficiency of preliminary education for college freshman, the inadequate methods of teaching, and the formalism trend of the students'societies. The internal one refers to the peculiar period in puberty in terms of psychology. The psychological conditions make college freshman vulnerable to suffer role confusions. The role confusion led to such behavior disorders, as the abuse of free time and the much utility in the choice of majors. All the elements above led to the failure of role transition for college freshman. Based on the facts, the research concludes the deeper reason that causes the failure of role transition is the long-term ignorance of college spirits training. The spirits of college exist as a kind of college culture and bring great impact on the role transition. In order to promote the role transition, we should establish a new educational system, in which the cultivation of college spirits serves as the core, the reform of teaching approach and the reconstruction of the students'societies act as the platform. So in this way, we can boost the perceptions for college freshman through the cultivation of college spirits, stimulate the motivation through the reform of teaching approach, and enhance the practical potentials through the reconstruction of students'societies.
