Nowadays, with the development of communication, the world has become smaller and the gap between people narrower. It has become more and more important for people to communicate with one another. Good pronunciation is the basic aspect for people to own and to communicate effectively. However, learners cannot speak well after ten years of English study. This is true for most English Learners and the very problem they have.Many learners cannot give correct stress, rhythm, and intonation when they communicate. Obviously, there must be problems in the present methods of education. This paper intends to present the research into the teaching of pronunciation in senior high schools, and to try to find the reasons and solutions to the problems through investigating and analyzing pronunciation teaching in our ELT, and it holds that it is the first step to learn some pronunciation theories, according to which we master the skills of pronunciation. English teaching should be permeated with the teaching of pronunciation from beginning to end in all English courses.First I elaborate research objectives and questions, research methods and resources, and explain some key terms and definitions. Then the relevant studies, findings in this field are introduced. The paper investigates and analyses pronunciation teaching in ELT. I make appropriate suggestions on the teaching of pronunciation that is applicable in China. Finally I restate the major findings of the research and its implications for education and future research.
