As is known to all,writing is one of the basic skills of language learning,as well as the most difficult skills to hold.Since the 1980s,more and more attention has been drawn to the study of the ESL writing.But most of the studies just focus on whether there are identical results in the writing of the second language and the writing of the first language.Not many aim to fred out the influence of the native language on the second language writing,which conclusions are not in agreement with each other.English writing is always a focus and difficulty to the English teaching in senior high schools.Since senior high school students are learning English in the environment of Chinese,interfered by the Chinese culture,their writings constantly reflect the influence of the native language,especially in the aspects of word choice,collocation, syntax as well as discourse.Therefore,many errors and unidiomatic expressions are brought into students' English,which is called in linguistic the negative transfer of the native language.The present study takes the students in Senior One in Dalian No.8 Senior High School as the subjects,and investigates the typical errors in their English writings.By means of the Contrastive Analysis,the Error Analysis and Interlanguage,the study has a thorough analysis to the errors,finds out the reasons why there are such errors in the writings of Chinese students,and puts forward some feasible strategies.The aim is to overcome the negative interference of the native language and help Chinese students make for idiomatic English.
