Writing is an extremely complex cognitive activity.According to the questionnaire,the current situation of writing teaching in high schools isn't optimistic.Whereas teachers are busy analyzing model essays and correcting students' compositions and students are busy writing,students don't make quick progress in writing obviously.And meanwhile,the teaching model is teacher-centered.Teachers are the superior part of the classroom,while students just receive knowledge in a passive way,which can't activate students' enthusiasm of writing.Therefore,it is important to find a better way to improve this status.The author collects the last research achievements about writing teaching-the product approach and the process approach,and analyzes the limitations of them.According to what Hillocks and Cai Lanzhen said,the task-based approach can combine the product approach and the process approach and remedy their defects.So the author puts forward the application of the task-based writing to the high schools.TBLT can create humanistic atmosphere and the stage for students to show themselves,activate the students' background knowledge,and carry on group work and peer editing in order to improve the students' writing proficiency and interest.The method of the research is experiment.Subjects of the experiment are Class 11 and Class 12 from senior one in Nanping No 1 Middle School.Class 11 is the controlled class with the product approach,and Class 12 is the experimental class with the task-based approach.According to the scores and questionnaires of the pre-test and the post-test,statistical results show the task-based writing can improve the students' writing proficiency and increase their writing interest more greatly than the product approach.So the author can come to the conclusion that the task-based writing is an effective way to improve writing ability of high school students.
