Application Of Cooperative Learning In English Teaching In Junior Middle School

Cooperative Learning is one of the most efficient teaching strategies. It is very helpful for students to stimulate and foster the students'interest in learning English; found their self-confidence and self-esteem; form good learning habits and efficient learning strategies, thus make a solid foundation for their lifelong learning and development.New English Curriculum Standards indicates clearly that teachers should create different kinds of Cooperative Learning activities in order to make students learn from each other and help each other, experience the honor of success and develop student cooperative spirit. In doing so, students will realize their advantages and disadvantages so as to be willing to cooperate with others and cultivate their harmonious and healthy.Through theoretical and parctical considerations, this thesis aims to illustrate the important role of Cooperative Learning in English language teaching in Junior Middle School, improve teachers'understanding of the value of Cooperative Learning, explore new teaching and learning English methods, constantly improve the students'abilities in learning English.The author made a detailed analysis and explanation in the form of questionaire investigation from two classes who taught about the motive, attitude of learning English and influence as well as result through theoretical and practical considerations.The result indicates that cooperative learning plays a role that can't be ignored in Junior Middle School. It can advance students'motivation, resume students'self-confidence and improve students'achievement. At last, the limitation of the research and implications are presented.
