The article attempts to study the impact of pre-reading activity design on reading comprehension and to discuss how to put into practice schema theory in pre-reading activity design through the action research on the students in Beijing Jianyuan Middle School.It also provides some pre-reading teaching with practical samples to show how to use three types of schema theory to lead,guide and support students to learn to use reading skills or methods.Both quantitative and qualitative methods are used in the study.The data are collected from the questionnaires and tests.The major findings of four-month application of pre-reading activity design based on schema theory show that under the teacher's instruction,students can learn to use reading skills or methods to activate and develop prior knowledge to read more actively and independently.
