College students is the most active group, they represent the new forces. E-Sports is the ninety-ninth sports event formally developed in China. It is a complete new sports event which is developing and improving among university students. It's a new issue for discussion to make the university students recognize the E-Sports, to guide them to participate in it correctly and to regulate their development at colleges and universities according to its characteristics and development trends.By using methods of documentary, questionnaire, statistical analysis, the article analyses the current development status of E-sport in colleges and universities in Wuhan. The investigation results show that university students take an attitude of tolerant and understandable to E-Sports, but the overall degree of cognition is not enough, and there are varying degrees of misunderstanding. The supervisor of Wuhan universities put less attention on the development of E-Sports, and there is a lack of unified organization and management, so E-Sports games between universities is carrying out insufficiently. Moreover, the development of E-Sports Athletic Association in universities is also in a state of spontaneous and disorder. Even though most Wuhan Universities have all electronic hardware facilities, there is still a shortage of professional E-Sports gaming venues, in particular, there is a shortage of places for competition broadcasting and watching. In addition, funding is also a major factor which plagues the development of Wuhan University E-Games, which led to a vicious cycle resulting in a lack of game brand effects, a lack of long-term cooperation with commercial sponsor, and bad advertising effects.According to the existing problems, the paper recommends that colleges and universities in Wuhan increase support for E-sports Athletic Association, and guide college students via these associations, so that college students can understand and treat e-sports correctly, and deal with the relationship between study and participation in E-Sports properly. At the same time, the essay proposes to set up E-sports curriculum in colleges and universities to enable more students come into contact with E-sports; to cultivate specialized instructors in E-sports among sports or computer teaching and researching faculty to guide and manage E-sports actively according to strict norms, try to reduce its negative effects so that students can understand and to participate in this exercise in a right way; to strengthen the campus network construction, and expand the facilities; to introduce a sponsorship mechanism, and organize E-sports events with brand effect to promote the healthy development of E-Sports event.
