The development of people with modern qualities must be based upon the reform and development of teacher education, and the development of teachers with modern qualities. As is pointed out by China's Outline of the Reform and Development of Education, "The hope of the revitalization of the Chinese nation depends upon education, while the revitalization of education depends on teachers." With the development of society, the significance of teachers has been recognized around the whole globe. As a result, teacher education has become an important part of the educational reform all over the world.The reflective teacher education since the 1980s has risen from the United Stated, Canada, Britain and so on. Its focus is to improve teachers' reflective thought through efficient teacher education, to enhance the reflective capability, and form the professional qualities to continue with development, so as to lead to the professional development of teachers. Since it has adapted to this tendency, it has greatly promoted the development of teacher education, and increasingly become a most significant concern of people.Because the reflective teacher education first developed in the west and has had a relatively completed form by now, this study focuses upon the theme of Reflective Teacher Education, carrying on the study in the aspect of development, analyzing its social backgrounds, history of development and theory construction, and exploring its available experience, in order to serve the development of teacher education in our country. The whole paper consists of five parts:Part I Preface: the study object, the documental summary at home and abroad, and then the purpose, content, methods and values of this study.Part II Recalling: the social backgrounds and development of reflective teacher education.Part III Theory Construction: first, the analysis of its theoretical basis from the perspectives of philosophy, psychology, education and methodology; then, its purposes and tactics; and last, its educational content, patterns and methods.Part IV Analysis: the formulation of its characteristics; meanings in the development of education; and some influencing factors on the development of reflective teacher education.Part V Revelations: the Revelations and References to China's education.
