With the Senior High School Curriculum Program of 2003 and the general high school curriculum standards for all disciplines announced, the Use of Language, an introduction curriculum about pragmatics knowledge, has become a part of Chinese courses of the senior high school as an elective course. Therefore, how to carry out teaching effectively at the secondary school stage has been regarded as a knotty problem among the majority of senior high school teachers of Chinese.Under the new curriculum standard, students should not only acquire the basic theory of pragmatics and know about the fundamental principals and methods of the use of language through learning the Use of Language, but also learn to apply the knowledge they have learned to the practice ,form the ability of using language correctly and learn to tell apart the basic law of the language meaning in order to enhance their ability to use language in a practical way. Thus, to achieve this goal, inevitably the guidance of lingual teaching theories will be essential, to which the pragmatics is most closely associated. Pragmatics theory emphasizes that students should know the formal structure of language, meanwhile enables them to learn to put into practice the function of the language form, which is generally difficult to realize by grammar analysis.To use pragmatic theory to guide the teaching of the Use of Language, traditional mode of language teaching should be changed. On the one hand, we should attach importance to the acquisition of language knowledge. On the other hand, we ought to stress the importance of the application of language knowledge. In other words, students should be asked to grasp the language knowledge and improve the competence of using language by practical application, which can realize the function of the language knowledge. During the teaching process, students first should be guided to master the basic knowledge and principles of pragmatics and understand language materials by using comparison, scrutiny, questioning and heuristic methods. After that, teachers should organize activities in class and after class and create context so as to enable students to practice, conjecture, think and assimilate the basic knowledge and master the rules and skills of pragmatics in different context. Meanwhile, student's actual language using ability can be promoted effectively. In addition, we can allow students to utilize the pragmatics methods and principles they have learnt to analyze the specific chapter and integrate the pragmatics with reading appreciation to find out the way of language form structure being used and experienced by writers and readers communicating in special situation, which can not only strengthen the mastery of pragmatics, but also provide a different perspective for students to appreciate the chapter and further deepen students'understanding of the article. Moreover, through investigative study, we should allow the student utilize their knowledge to conduct the special studies of the language phenomenon in life and expand the application, which can also bring about good results. Finally, we should adopt the means of scientific tests to conduct an objective, standard, accurate examination of the language ability of students.When using pragmatics principles to guide the teaching of the Use of Language, we should ask the students to master pragmatics knowledge and improve the language competence. In the meantime, we must combine a variety of teaching methods with organic rather than only adhere to a fixed mode. We also need to supply student with some elementary language knowledge suitably because of the relative deficiency of students'language knowledge. The Chinese elective subject of senior high school represents the development and enhancement on the foundation of the compulsory course. As a consequence, the Use of Language should be carried out with the compulsory course synchronically. With the development of modern society and science and technology, we should make full use of modern teaching technology in the teaching process. Moreover, the teacher must make good use of the teaching language and set up a model for the students. It can be said to be a good way for students to be influenced unconsciously by their teachers'language and thereby obtain the enhancement of language imperceptibly.
