Teachers' educational beliefs are the viewpoints which teachers have believed correlated educational factors on such as student management, curriculum teaching, educational appraisal, student's study. These viewpoints have important influence on teachers' teaching practice. Teachers' educational beliefs have vital significance on teachers' professional development and educational reform.The purposes of the research are: 1)to study how elementary school teachers' educational beliefs are; 2)to examine the differences of educational beliefs among elementary school teachers with different backgrounds; 3)to examine the correlation situation among the gross scale and the sub-scales of educational beliefs; 4)to study teachers' growth experience influence on elementary school teachers' educational beliefs; 5) to study pedagogical educational influence on elementary school teachers' educational beliefs; 6)to study teacher's teaching practice influence on elementary school teachers' educational beliefs;This research uses "elementary school teachers' educational beliefs inventory" as tools by the author as the survey to collect information. The sample consisted of 218 elementary school teachers from eight schools in Changning district. Twelve of them accepted interviews after that. At last the survey results were analyzed and the conclusions from the investigation and the interview are as follows:1) The level of teachers' educational beliefs is not high. They do well in student management and student's study. But they can not do well in curriculum teaching and educational appraisal.2) Sex doesn't affect educational beliefs of elementary school teachers.3) Age affects educational beliefs of elementary school teachers. The younger the teachers are, the better their educational beliefs will be.4) The time of being a teacher affects educational beliefs of elementary school teachers. The longer the time of being a teacher is, the better their educational beliefs will be.5) The diploma affects educational beliefs of elementary school teachers. The higher their diplomas are, the better their educational beliefs will be.6) Subjects doesn't affect educational beliefs of elementary school teachers.7) The better the sub-scales of educational beliefs are, the better their whole educational beliefs will be. The educational beliefs on curriculum teaching affect most the whole educational beliefs.8) Teachers' growth experience affects educational beliefs of elementary school teachers. Most teachers think some important persons or things have important influence on educational beliefs.9) Pedagogical education doesn't affect educational beliefs of elementary school teachers. Most teachers think some curriculums and practice about teaching in pedagogical education do not have important influence on educational beliefs. Many teachers show their unsatisfaction of their pedagogical education.10) Teachers' teaching practice affects educational beliefs of elementary school teachers. Most teachers think some factors like the exam-oriented education, textbook, non-rational expectation make teacher's educational beliefs more practical.According to the above, the following suggestions are given:1) For teachers: to enhance educational reconsidering; being good at observing and the imitation.2) For schools: to change educational beliefs through teaching practice; influence educational beliefs through molding the school culture.3) For pedagogical education: to value educational beliefs; to pay attention to the practical problems.4) For silent educational beliefs : the schools develop educational motion research, the teachers are engaged in educational narrates the research.5) For further research: to perfect research technique; enlarge sample scope; improve measuring technique of educational beliefs.
