The swiftly development of science and technology inceasingly affects the reform of our country's college education in the 21st century. Along with a new curriculum reform continuously deeping, STS education will certainly become an important and significant content in the scientific educational reform of our country's universities. Thermotics course integrates STS education that was not only suitable for the trend of development in the higher normal universities of Xinjiang, but also fostered students'scientific accomplishment (scientific knowledge ,scientific attitude and values)and the social responsibility. It have played an important roal in complying with the physics educational reform development trend of the universities.In order to enable the research to have focus and effectiveness, firstly this thesis used the questionnaire to investigate STS education of the thermotics teaching at the present situation. Through analying the student questionnaire, the research discovered that the majority students did not understand the STS education, and the partial students ' scientific knowledge was deficient and the scientific attitude and the values were unclear. At the same time, the questionnaire also reflected that students hoped the teachers can teach some scientific knowledge which related thermotics intellectual, the newest thermotics studies and development condition, the thermotics history and some modern education theories, that are exactly the STS education can achieve. According to analy the teacher questionnaire, the research obtained that teachers agreed completely thermotics teaching with integrating STS education, and thinked fully integrating STS education in thermotics teaching was a good method. Based on the above investigation, after unifying the STS education theory, the modern education theory and the construction principle theory, the research constructed the goal, the content as well as"explanation—inspiration—research"the pattern in the physics education specialized of thermotics course in higher normal universities of Xinjiang. Using from 16th September to 16th December in 2008 during the three monthes, the research have implemented the"explanation—inspiration—research"pattern in the thermotics exercise class. According to contrast before experiment-in experiment-after experiment, using X 2 test in order to compare students to change during the experiment, the experiment came to the conclusion :(1) The students who experienced from unknow to know, from know to apply actively to the STS education into society, the students have owned sense of achievement. (2) The students was remarkable regarding on manner transformation during scientific experiment, and the change in the scientific knowledge and science activity were much outstanding. (3) The students discovered the science consciousness ability enhancement, and strengthened macro-scientific policy-making ability and the critical spirit.Through integrating STS education in the thermotics course, it was completely feasible and extremely indispensable that adopted the"explanation—inspiration—research"pattern. It was not only expanded thermotics teaching content which catched up with the development of STS education and age, but also enriched teachers'teaching method and students'study content. The"explanation - inspiration - research"pattern haved breaked the solely , closeness educational model that based on the class teaching, and formed the independent and opening class that took the student as the central role. Therefore, the higher normal University can promote STS education to deep in physic course through strengthening teachers' on-the-job training and organize them to carry on the STS teaching scientific research and the exchange. Simultaneously, the thesis discovered that the STS educational pattern was not one kind. The teachers may innovate thermotics STS education new pattern and put it into practice.
