The Nung Ethnic Group

The Nung ethnic group is the one of the major ethnic group which lives in a region where along the border of China and Vietnam. In China, the Nung ethnic group distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou provinces and Guangxi region, while in Vietnam, is mainly concentrated in the Northern provinces. The study on the Nung ethnic group has played an important part on the Thai studies.The cultural attribute of Nung in China is not obvious to the other ethnic groups in Zhuang nationality, but it is in the Nung nationality in Vietnam. By the field work, we can know about the Nung's ethnic identity and culture, including folk belief, weddings and funerals, clothing clothes and houses. In this paper, we can see the living picture, the cultural specificity and the ethnic identity of Nung ethnic group.The Nung is an entity ethnic group which with the same origin but different self-identity. This situation is attributed to the difference of countries'political and policy, social history, cultural and marriage taboos. In all of the above factors, the country's political and policy play a leading role.
