The essay focuses on a hot topic–street fashion, a reflection of culture, economy, and social conditions of modern times. The research will take the counter-culture movement happened in 1960s in America as a breakpoint and try to find the interrelations between the movement and the street fashion. It is true that only by all-round analysis of the movement including its thought, forms, influence, purpose and cause, can we have a scientific knowledge of the street fashion. Fashion is a social phenomenon, a visage of political, economic, and culture of corresponding time, as well as people's taste and value. As the western mid-age of empire developed, the fashion emerged, functioning as a mark to tell differences between upper-class and grassroots. Industrial Revolution broke the empire fashion, with the emerging capitalize. Rich enterprisers rose up to dominant the fashion. However, the new age poses a challenge to the fashion research, as the current fashion shows very different visage in many angles. This highly developed modern fashion characters betray to the all traditions and rules, and it takes the form of street fashion, a typical fashion of young people. This trend of youth fashion not only impacts the fashion industry, but also changes our culture, value, and society. That is why an immediate research on the street fashion is quite necessary. Only though this research, can we get a full knowledge of subculture fashion, which is a critical part among modern fashions.
