As the subject analysis methods of the comparative education, Factor Analysis appeared in the late 19th century and became popular in the 1930s. The use of Factor Analysis made great development, not only in the discipline, many important researches and monographs have published, but also reflected a surge in the number of high-level comparative educationists, which promoted comparative education to be a separate subject, and made a significant contribution to the development of the educational science. In its historical development, the Factor Analysis has experienced the various developmental stages: the early initiative promotion of Arnold and Sadler, the development of Kandel, and the complement of Schneider and Hans. Its development process, advantages and characteristics have a positive impact on comparative education and comparative education methods. Making an intensive study of Factor Analysis helps to improve its active function and promotes the growth and development of the comparative education development.This thesis examines this issue in historical perspective on a basis of comparison and references. It also analyzes the process, advantages and characteristic of the Factor Analysis to explore the influence of Factor Analysis and its development.Besides the introduction and the epilogue, the article includes four parts.The first part is a review of Factor Analysis history and the causes. It looks back on the process that Factor Analysis has gone through, from avocation, development to completing.The second part strives to explore the characteristics, advantages and localization of Factor Analysis. By means of materials analysis, the thesis gives an exposition of the advantages, characteristics and the locations of Factor Analysis, and makes a comprehensive, intensive study of Factor Analysis. The third part introduces the way in which Factor Analysis influences the comparative education. Factor Analysis has effected not only on the comparative education development, but also on the comparative education methods.The fourth part talks about the construction and prospects of the Factor Analysis.
