Inquiry learning is a new study way in respect to the reform of fundamental education in China, it also serves a key point focusing on implementing the principle of quality-oriented education characteristic with the spirit of innovation and capability in practice. Although inquiry learning having many people carried out investigation and discussion studying, aspect such as cognition , applicability , proper degree and oneself feel makes returning back studying further from a gleam of geographical feature teacher angle , from the make of that the person studies to probing into style seldom seeing comparatively. But the main body of this paper exactly be analytical making an investigation from all above aspect to the person, this is the innovation of this paper writing.Junior geography is a subject of strongly comprehensive and practical knowledge, which suits to inquiry learning well, and the geography course curricula also need inquiry learning, therefore, it is urgent to prompt inquiry learning. This paper is mainly on these problems. On the one hand, the paper theoretically analyses the research at home and abroad on inquiry learning, summarizes the basic theory on it. On the other hand, based on the local education reality, a questionnaire investigation in a certain range of junior school teachers is designed and implemented in order to understand the current situation on inquiry learning and its problems. By analyzing the existing problems, the paper provides some improvement strategies on the implementation of inquiry learning.The paper mainly contains four parts below:The first part (including the first chapter) is to provide an over view of the back ground on this main topic's research. It mainly introduces the research origin, background, main content, method of the research on inquiry learning. This paper is mainly on the theoretical about inquiry learning in the context of the new curriculum reform.The second part (including the second chapter) is the basic theory of inquiry learning. It distinguishes the concept of inquiry learning, analyzes its historical origin and development, generalize the basic features and types of inquiry learning. All these will be helpful for teachers to understand and master the basic theory on inquiry learning.The third part (including the third chapter) is the survey of inquiry learning in three different junior schools in the city of Changchun. The paper designed a questionnaire, made a survey to three junior school teachers .The survey showed that the existing problems and analyzing the reasons.The forth part (including the forth chapter) is the part of summary. On the basis of these problems, put forward to the improvement strategies.Finally the paper pointed out the foreground and the fundamental significance of inquiry learning in China, and gave a summary on the paper, and analysis of the deficiencies.This paper analyses the existing problems about the selection of a subject and puts forth the principles, types, strategies and its sources.
