In current world, science and technology have created unparalleled material progress. The growth of the comprehensive national power of every country is more dependent on the level of their science and technology. The development of science and technology requires not only a group of talents and elites, but also the improvement of all citizens'quality in science and technology, among which the science and technology education (STE) for young people is top priority. However, the education section alone can not reform the STE successfully, they need the science and technology sector to provide intellectual support and help them with the development of STE. At the same time, many scientists and science educators both from abroad and China have begun to explore basic theory of the collaboration in science and education, trying to find ways to bridge the current gaps between scientists and science educators. Then they put it into practice and pleasantly to see it worked. Collaboration of the two sectors has become an irresistible international trend.I plan to place my research in the grand background of global science education reform. In the first chapter, I will introduce the history and current progress of international science and education collaboration in four respects:policy and curriculum development, teacher training and capacity building, teaching and learning activities, and informal education. Through four science education projects(including every stage of K-12 education,Shanghai area and Beijing area) that cooperated by personnels in both science and education sectors, I try to present the local practice of the collaboration in the second chapter. Then several key issues including institutional issue, bridging the gap, content of collaboration, cultures and personnel selections are what I'm going to discuss in chapter 3. Finally, practical action suggestions for China to bridge the gap between scientists and science educators will be proposed.
