School-University collaboration research, long being a catalyst for the improvement of education at elementary and secondary level and teachers'professional development, has approached a climax since 1980s of the 20th century, and the teacher training sectors from varied normal universities and comprehensive university started collaboration research with elementary and secondary schools and reached favorable results. Nevertheless, such collaboration in China is still in the early age with some problems yet to solve. Therefore, it is theoretically important and practically significant to review the historical development of school-university collaboration research, draw from previous experiences and lessons, and put forward effective operation proposals.This thesis, on literature survey method, classified the historical development and current research practice of school-university collaboration to summarize the similar research achievements home and abroad and pointed out the problems such as the existing research results having been excessively affected by the ones overseas, and deficient in system.Studied on the case of the collaboration between X elementary school and Beijing Normal University, this thesis emphasizes the background, process, and the results of the collaboration and the barriers encountered. This thesis summarizes its successful experience from five facets—sufficient preparation, excellent inter-relation, highly effective and scientific management mechanism, superior home education models and refined campus culture.This thesis, on the understanding and thinking of school-university collaboration, puts forward two pieces of effective collaboration-- keeping up with the advanced education theories and sustainable development of school education. Drawing from the previous research achievements, the case study of X elementary school and university collaboration, and the practical situation, the thesis attempts to put forward some understanding and suggestion in the hope of providing reference for the development of the current school-university collaboration.
