The family is the basic unit of the society. As the organic components of the society, they fully reflect the basic situation of intergenerational relations in the social field. However, intergenerational relations within families are not a simple enrichment of the society, but relationships with unique and irreplaceable features. They are important connections between family members which play an important role in enhancing intergenerational communication and achieving harmonious families and stabile social order. Family is the "cells" of the society and harmonious family relations is the basis of a safe society. "The fairness and harmony among the generations" is the need of constructing a harmonious society.Traditional China is characterized by a self-sufficient agricultural society. The small farm production and patriarchal clan system of "Family Oriented" determine that traditional Chinese inter-generation, to some extent, is family inter-generation relations for the inter-generation relations of social domain are nothing more than the enlargement and extension of that of family. With the gradual deepening of economic restructuring, great changes have taken place in Chinese society. During the transition from agricultural to industrial society and agricultural to city civilization, changes have been taking place in the values, life styles and interpersonal relationships of people. Family, as a cell of society, and inter-generation relations, as a fundamental and foremost relation in family, is inevitably influenced. However, in modern society, the social transformation has influenced the family inter-generation relation at a different angle. The family inter-generation relation is of great complicated and traditional one has lost its original function. The mutual conflict and fusion of "traditional" and "modern" has brought a series of new conditions and issues. Therefore, It is must to clearly understand the family inter-generation relation under social transformation, absorb its reasonable aspects and establish the one that meets the demand of present time. The thesis combines history and logic according to Max Theory of Materialism Philosophy and states the topics on the basis of large quantity of literature read.The whole thesis is divided into 5 parts.Partâ… :Focusing on a comprehensive summary of the topic, including posing problems, literature review, the definitions of key concepts and theories, research methods.Partâ…¡:This part focuses on the description of intergenerational relations within families in the agricultural society. Firstly, this article analyzes the social and cultural background of traditional intergenerational relations within families. Then, the situation of traditional ones is described in four aspects:interaction between generations, personal dependence "the father is kind, and the son is obedient", the regarding men soupier to women.Partâ…£:In order to emphasize the differences between the contemporary and traditional intergenerational relations within families, the former relation is analyzed in the following four aspects:the market economy, political rights, value concepts and changing social structure.Partâ…£:Elaborating the intergenerational relations within families under societal transformation in detail, finding that traditional intergenerational relations within families have been broken and a lot of new trends and issues appear.Partâ…¤:This section makes a review of the whole paper, clarifies the logic connections between each part and the practical meanings of them. In addition, this section explains issues associated with the topic discussed here.
