Family Inter-Generation Relation Transfer Under Social Transition

The family is the basic unit of the society. As the organic components of the society, they fully reflect the basic situation of intergenerational relations in the social field. However, intergenerational relations within families are not a simple enrichment of the society, but relationships with unique and irreplaceable features. They are important connections between family members which play an important role in enhancing intergenerational communication and achieving harmonious families and stabile social order. Family is the "cells" of the society and harmonious family relations is the basis of a safe society. "The fairness and harmony among the generations" is the need of constructing a harmonious society.Traditional China is characterized by a self-sufficient agricultural society. The small farm production and patriarchal clan system of "Family Oriented" determine that traditional Chinese inter-generation, to some extent, is family inter-generation relations for the inter-generation relations of social domain are nothing more than the enlargement and extension of that of family. With the gradual deepening of economic restructuring, great changes have taken place in Chinese society. During the transition from agricultural to industrial society and agricultural to city civilization, changes have been taking place in the values, life styles and interpersonal relationships of people. Family, as a cell of society, and inter-generation relations, as a fundamental and foremost relation in family, is inevitably influenced. However, in modern society, the social transformation has influenced the family inter-generation relation at a different angle. The family inter-generation relation is of great complicated and traditional one has lost its original function. The mutual conflict and fusion of "traditional" and "modern" has brought a series of new conditions and issues.
