Research And Implementation Of IP Address Monitoring And Management System

With the development of computer network technology and the wide spread of network applications, many problems have emerged in the field of network management. Nowadays, IP address embezzlement has become one of the most serious questions in network management, especially in campus network management. It is urgent for network managers to prevent IP address embezzlement effectively to ensure network users' legal right of network usage and maintain network's normal running.Aiming at IP address embezzlement question, this paper is provided an effective scheme-IP Address Monitoring&Management System to monitor and manage IP address. According to the principle of IP address embezzlement, the system designs and implements three management methods which are IP-MAC, IP-PORT and IP-MAC-PORT. It realizes the real time monitoring of the network by collecting and analyzing data collected from the routing and switching equipment. After tracing and locating the IP-embezzler's sites ,it isolates them from the network based on port management supported by switches.IP address Monitoring&Management System is developed by Java tool. The system is mainly made up of four modules - system configuration module, data collecting module, data analyzing module and management module. System configuration module accomplishes information configuration used in this system. Data collecting module is realized through SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol). It takes charge of collecting IP-MAC and MAC-PORT information respectively from IP routing switches and users' switches. Data analyzing module uses IP-MAC, IP-PORT or IP-MAC-PORT management methods to analyze the collected data, finds out IP address embezzlement users and locates their sites, according to the legal users' information stored in User Management Database. Management module implements management of switch port-enable or disable IP address embezzlement users' port, achieving connection to or isolation from the network.As IP address Monitoring&Management System could automatically monitor the network every interval set by network managers, it deals with IP address embezzlment more actively and effectively and ensures network legal users' right. So the management problem puzzling managers long time is well resolved.
