ITU-TS(CCITT know as before) established the G..728 16kb/s LD-CELP speech coding standard in 1992. The algorithm which was presented by US AT&T BELL laboratory and was received by ITU-TS satisfied the requirement for getting into public telephone network, and it was only plan to be satisfied with low-delay requirement at 16kb/s rate. Its computation task was very heavy because it was very complex. With the developing of VLSI in recent years, high function DSP has been produced (such as TMS320 series DSP produced by TI) and their cost is dropping. Thus, this established the foundation for making complex speech coder practical and producible .The paper researched and discussed the fix-point real implementation of G .728 by DSP TMS320C5402 chip.This thesis analyzes carefully the algorithm of G .728 codec, and showed the software flow charts . Following, we researched the problems to implement the algorithm by DSP real-time . The algorithm's C54 assembly language programs were designed and run correctly in the TMS320C5402 DSK , which computing amount was 27MIPS. Finally, we discussed the problems met by us and solving methods during the real-implementation.
