Nowadays automatic gear shifting is divided into three sorts: automatic transmission (AT), continuously variable transmission (CVT), and automatic mechanical transmission (AMT). Automatic mechanical transmission is advantaged due to its simple structure, low cost and high efficiency. Mechanical transmission (MT) vehicles are in the majority in China. These manual transmissions can be changed into automatic mechanical transmissions with low cost. So automatic mechanical transmissions adapt to the situation of China. Focused on the AMT alteration of SC7130, the following researches have been carried out in this paper:1. The performance of electrohydraulic servomechanism has been analyzed. The clutch operation mechanism driven by DC servomotor was put forward. The mathematic models of DC servomotor and clutch operation mechanism have been built. And controller has been designed. Simulation results indicate that the operation mechanism and controller has good performance.2. The numerical model of engine JL474Q1 has been built up base on the engine test which lays a foundation for the search of vehicle starting up and shift schedule.3. Clutch locking controller was designed base on building model of clutch. Simulation of vehicle in different road and throttle opening was carried. The result indicates that vehicle can start up successfully satisfying the criterion with this controller.4. The characteristics of three kinds of shift strategy have been discussed. Economy and power shift strategies with two parameters of SC7130 car has been designed. The simulation result is provided to the project.5. According to the requirement of AMT start up experiment, using Dynamic Link Library to program for different kinds of data acquisition card and transferring data between PC and Multi SCM. In this way data can be acquired successfully and engine throttle, clutch locking speed and eddycurrent dynamometer torque were controlled by PC programs. Software for AMT start up experiment has also been developed.
