According to the requirement of VLSI and the application of AC motor, a motor control IP core is designed with EDA and FPGA. At the same time, it can be widely used in inverter. There are six sections in this paper, among which the third, the fourth and the fifth is the most important, mainly dealing with the specific design of the chip.Firstly, the necessity of designing AC motor IP core is discussed by analyzing the situation and the application of AC motor chip home and abroad.Secondly, the development and the mechanism of SPWM are introduced.Thirdly, the system is designed according to the flow. The main processes include system partition, module design and functional simulation. Based on the requirement of design, System is divided into two parts, that is ,the generation of three-phase SPWM and its peripheral circuits, then these two parts are fallen into smaller modules. Module design is to construct functional circuits .with synthesizalbe and reusable VHDL codes .System simulation is completed under stimulus with software MAXPLUS II, by connecting every module in form of "block" or "component" , after every module is simulated with correctresult. In this section, with time_sharing method and the symmetry of sine wave, the look-up table needed to generate three-phase sine wave is reduced to one twelfth of the table before, and the optimization will have no any effect on precision, at the same time, the generation way of the monopolar SPWM is improved. In addtion, the system is independent of MCU, by integrating the peripheral circuits into chip.Lastly, FPGA is adopted to verify the function of the system.. The chip used here is EPF10K10LC84-4 of FLEX 10K made in Altera. The SRAM object file is configured into the chip through MAXPLUS 11. Then the outputs are observed by oscillograph and compared with simulation , indicating the design can meet the requirements in advance.
